...I was dreaming that I was visiting the gamefreak staff in their offices. Where I managed to see plans for their next generation, and it was so cool that I had to share it.

The main theme was going to be about temperature extremes.
And they decided to take "multiple versions" really serious this time, instead of just a minor variation with some version exlcusives.
So the two games would still share a similar plot, but they would actually feature different regions!
One based on Hawaii and the other on Iceland.
Both exotic islands with a big volcano as an important location, but otherwise contrasting hot/cold climates.
The regional dex had 300 pokemon, both consisting of 100 new ones and 200 old ones, but 100 of the old ones would be completely different!
So where Iceland used Frillish and Geodude, Hawaii would use Tentacool and Roggenrola instead.
And of course Iceland would resort to more pokemon like Cubchoo, Cryogonal and Snorunt, whereas Hawaii would have Dwebble, Tropius, Noibat and whatnot. But they both shared Numel and Slugma for example.
As for the new ones...some of them would be simple version exclusives that just fit one region better of course. But some would be in both versions, yet differ greatly. Think, like Shellos looked different depending on which side of Sinnoh you found it, but in this case even with different types.
The only example I can remember was the Pidgey-clone. In both cases it was an exotic 3-stage bird, that looked almost the same, just different color and patterns, and as it evolved, it gained a type, but becoming an Ice/Flying type in the cold version, and a Grass/Flying only in the tropical one instead. *-*

I woke up and thought it was an interesting idea xD

If only. I don't think developing two separate regions would be very feasible, it would basically be like developing two games. That would be a neat idea, though.

I think what I'd like to see them do to expand on the concept of version exclusives would be if they had different storyline paths. Using Kalos as an example, they could do something like where in one version, you would go to Coastal Kalos and then Mountain Kalos, but in the other version you go to Mountain Kalos first and then Coastal Kalos. That way you would still be exploring the same region but it'd be a different experience between versions.
