EDIT: oh welp, since hackers found that Diancie is supposed to be distributed itself, an event evolutionary stone for Carbink seems to be out the window as a possibility.

I said that we can expect at least a Manaphy-Phione situation with Diancie and Carbink,
but it turns out, that this will be even more radical than that!

"Diancie is an extremely rare Pokémon, created when Carbink undergoes a strange mutation. "
(EDIT: looks like they took exactly this part of the text down from the site o___O)

Are we finally getting a first time non-legendary ---> legendary evolution? How cool is that?

I'm sure many would reject this idea if it wasn't coming from gamefreak directly xDDD but let me explain why that is actually perfectly viable anyway:
Evolution-methods/triggers can just as easily be limited as a legendary pokemon itself.
Meaning, to make them one-offs, as legendaries always are, all that needs to be done is making the trigger, for example a special legendary evolution stone that is only available once. Or in the case of an event-legendary like this case, just distribute a single stone. Its the same as distributing 1 Diancie, except you can choose which Carbink to evolve I assume O:

Anyhow, if this is how its going to be, I hope they make a legendary evolutionary stone for Phione too! It would make perfect sense.

I read, although I am sure its another Mew under the truck rumor, that to evolve Carbink into Diancie, You need to hold 3ds sideways to the left while trading for a poke with a fairy type move.
