UPDATE: bottom half.

How unexpected ;)

Told ya they wouldn't go the crazy road and make silly eeveelutions ala dragon and whatnot.

As predicted, the only way gamefreak could stop (or at least get rid of 95% of) more future eeveelution speculation every other generation again an again (because they've made all they felt appropriate for Eevees concept), was to make a special one! And after a long wait, it turns out they did! xDDDD

Which obviously as one would expect, would turn out to be a Normal eeveelution.

I'm so relieved.
Gamefreak never disappoint me. They always tease with stuff that could go down so bad , but nope, they do the professional thing.

Yay ^ - ^

btw:
my prediction for its stats
65 - 95 - 60 - 65 - 130 - 110
I'm not sure about where the 95 is.
-Why sp.def 130?
Because its overall high across all eeveelutions, and the highest stat of Eevee itself. It would make sense for a "non-elemental", special eeveelution to be a more directly buffed Eevee in terms of stats.
-Why 110 speed?
I just think this one will turn out speedy. Not Jolteon fast, but Espeon-speedy sounds about right. It looks like some artistic acrobatic show feature too xD
-Why 95 on attack even though unsure?
Cause Attack is the only stat no eeveelution had 95 yet.
Physically attacking eeveelutions are just 2 (4 special ones and a physical one with high sp.atk too, Flareon), and besides, Eevee starts of with a higher attack than sp.Attack, so I thought it made sense.

EDIT:
official reveal on the site
[link]

New names.
Sylveon
Nymphali
Feelinara

the theme in the names is:
-slyph, nymph, fairy (fee in german)

since the rest of the eeveelutions had obvious indications of its types in their names, this further implies that this will likely turn out to be Normal.

We see it use 4 moves in the short video.

-RED WAVE OF SHIET
Focus Blast or at least something that looks similar.. It could be Last Resort.

-TRUMP CARD 100%
Which is a Normal move only Eevee learns (not its eeveelutions) at a late level

-SUCK IN SHIET
No idea o____o

-SWIFT
Another Normal move, however Eevee doesn't learn it...
I have a hunch this will be added to Eevees learnset and used as the trigger for evolution, making it work like a "fake level evolution" of Eevee, which sounds perfect for a Normal one.

If gamefreak came out and stated that Sylveon is something else than Normal... I'd guess on Fighting, but I wouldn't bet on that at all LOL.
My point is, I'm really not getting the "Flying" hype that's going on right now.
Not even any actual birds or similar pokemon are primary Flying...

This situation is unprecedented.
We got a single eeveelution, without an obvious type implication in design or name.
It just looks fabulous instead, and the name is about fairies...

The website says it is a new evolution with a "different type". There is no way this is a Normal-type. I'm going with the general opinion of it being a Flying-type.

Normal is "different" from the other 7.

On what basis? That it looks like a human character or that its english name might be based on air elementals?

Id expect something concrete in a Flyng eeveelutions design that would imply it, like the was the case with the rest.

Yeah, but Eevee was also shown in the image with that caption. Wouldn't it be a little anticlimactic for the "different type" to just be the same type as Eevee?

I really think this thing is a Flying-Type. Specifically, one that represents wind. It has flowing ribbons, the lightest weight of any Eeveelution. If there were a Wind-type, I'd call it that. But since there isn't, Flying is the closest thing.

But those moves in the trailer threw me off... I think I saw Final Gambit, Trump Card, something else I can't recognize, and Swift. Maybe it's an Eeveelution with Multitype?

...Or maybe they'll make a Love type and Sylveon is that, it was released in Valentines Day after all. =P

They were being just as stupid when they revealed that the starters are, against all odds and expectations (lol) Grass, Fire and Water.

It seems more likely that they are trolling with the text than it being the first casual primary Flying type.
I mean, if ribbons and small weight are all that's needed, we would've seen some of that long ago already.

I'm thinking of Swablu right now.
They could have easily made it pure Flying and evolve into Flying/Dragon (especially when fans always wonder about it being a Dragon at all, for some reason). But apparently having clouds for wings only got it a generic secondary Flying type.

Although wind is covered mainly by Flying, it is not exclusive to it. You got things like the wind demon Shiftry and the representative of the north wind Suicune, neither of them Flying type...

I have no clue what the sucking move is either, but the red stuff could be anything from Focus Blast to Last Resort or something else.
But the moves might not mean anything, as they could have intentionally picked vague ones to further fuel speculation.

I wish they'd give us a primary Flying poke already (which is not a clone of 2 others who aren't..) so we would have more reliable info about what it takes to be one.

I used to think that it would be Normal type until I read about slyph's. They are, for a lack of better words, fairies of the sky. Here let me show you what it says on Wikipedia:

"Sylphs are winged air elements or fairies. They ride the wind, flying high with eagles, Sylphs are female and are almost transparent. They're slender and graceful, with large glistening eyes and huge wings. Sylphs befriend and protect other flying creatures, such as birds, moths and butterflies. Sylphs can move as fast as lightning, but they may also drift along on draughts or puffs of wind."

The parts I "highlighted" basically describe Sylveon. It's feminine, it's slender, it's graceful and it has large glistening eyes. This leads me to believe that it will be Flying type, but of course no one knows until they reveal it later on. :)

It may not look like a Dragon, but I still think its Dragon Type. They've been portraying the Dragon Type as a powerful force rather than an animal classification. Altaria is a good example. It appears to be using some sort of Fire/Dragon move, Trump Card (which the other Eeveelutions can learn if you don't remove it upon evolution) and the charge move sort lof reminds me of Dragon Pulse.

Official Pokemon site says its different type after all. But that still could mean its different from other evolutions which brings back probability to be normal type after all xD

The text on that site is just the usual trolling.

I mean they've revealed the starter types to be Grass Fire and Water like anyone expected something else LOL.

All eeveelutions had this in common: their names and their design very obviously indicated their type.
Here we have both, the design and names, yet no agreement amongst fans, but tons of speculation.

Fairy based names, pink, fashionable contest ready design... Swift, Eevees end-move Trump Card... it all points to Normal for me.

I mean, if it was any other type than Normal, they would have made it as obvious as usual. It would be the explanation for why they went for a fancy look instead of an elemental one.

It could be the long awaited Light Type, who knows?

That would just result in a mess with them having to change types of old pokemon after so long.

It makes as much sense as Wind, Sound, Sand, Heat..types. All either generic or fully covered by existing types.
