I think this is the best prevo for connecting Heracross and Pinsir together I've seen.

Hm.
As a big fan of both Pinsir and Heracross, I can say that I don't think having a joint pre-evo would do either of them justice.
There are some pokemon that could do with a Joint pre-evo. Miltank and Tauros, for example. Solrock and Lunatone. But I think Pinsir and Heracross are too different to have a joint preevo.
This one is certainly more like Heracross tha Pinsir. The evolution Digrhea is also pretty cool. I would say color this one a light shade of blue, and have something else evolve into Pinsir.

I fail to see any similarity between Tauros And Miltank, who unlike Pinsir and Heracross don't even have a similar bodyshape. From the other side, who has a joint evo though? Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan, who don't resemble each other at all, but if either of the mentioned duos would ever get a shared pre-evo, the least likely would be Miltank-Tauros, especially now with generation V, when there is a pokemon that actually does look similar to Tauros, Bouffalant.
I can totally see Scarby happen (but they would have probably done it if they were going to long ago), and I'm happy with how it turned out :)

But as you said, the Hitmons also look completely unrelated.
But Tauros and Miltank are just different genders of the same species, whereas Heracross and Pinsir are completely different in every way. They have literally no similarities besides the Bug type.
